Veteran's Heritage Project


Veterans Heritage Project™ annually offers scholarships to senior students active in one of our chapters. Our students demonstrate incredible civic commitment throughout the year, and it is an honor to support their future endeavors!

2019 Scholarship Program 

The 2019 Scholarship Program opened January 2, 2019 with materials due February 3, 2019 by submitting to  Each scholarship opportunity has its own instructions and qualification criteria. Materials can be found in the Chapter Resources section of the VHP Google Drive for participating VHP Chapters and students.  VHP Scholarships will be awarded at our March 31, 2019 Community Reception and Book Signing, held at the DoubleTree Resort in Scottsdale.  Our partner, the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Society, will award their Copper Lamp of Knowledge Scholarships at their Patriotic Award Dinner on March 16, 2019 at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort and Villas.


Personal Scholarships – $3,000 First Place, $2,000 Second Place, $1,500 Third Place

VHP students who are high school seniors submit essays describing the personal impacts from veterans’ oral history and the VHP program, and how the experience will influence their future.   


Above and Beyond Scholarship – $1,500

VHP students who are high school seniors submit essays describing how they have served the veteran population and/or their VHP chapter. 


Caitlin Campbell Travel Scholarship – $2,000

VHP students of any high school grade level submit essays describing where they would travel and how the experience will make them a better citizen of America and the world. Since 2014, five students have received scholarships, and have traveled to Cambodia, France & England, South Korea, and Vietnam.


Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Society Copper Lamp of Knowledge Scholarship($500 – $2,500 – amount varies based upon available funds)

AVHOFS awards three scholarships to exceptional students who are in their senior year of high school and are involved in VHP!  High School VHP Chapter Advisors may nominate one exceptional VHP senior. Since 2013, eighteen VHP students have received scholarship funds and have been honored at AVHOFS’s annual Patriotic Gala.


Barbara Hatch Founder’s Award for Program Excellence – $500

Nominated by VHP leadership, this award recognizes a teacher who goes above and beyond in supporting a VHP Chapter at their school. Since 2014, five teachers have received awards.
